Have you ever wanted to write a scenario for Fastaval? If you've also dreamed of passing through the eye of a needle, the Synopsis Academy is for you. Here you will gain a wealth of knowledge about Fastaval, scenario writing, and the writing community.

The goal is to help you get started on creating a well-developed synopsis, which you can continue to work on after this year's Fastaval and submit to Fastaval 2026. Additionally, you will prepare a written analysis that supplements and elaborates on the synopsis.

Previously, we were called the the scenario writting competition, but in 2024 the entire concept was re-evaluated—and with the new format comes a new name!

What can you expect?

  • A head start for next year's Fastaval: When you leave the Synopsis Academy, you'll have a first draft of a synopsis for your scenario idea, a written analysis to elaborate on your synopsis, and hopefully plenty of tips and tricks about scenario writing.
  • An exciting learning environment: You'll be supported and encouraged to work on your project. We've teamed up with several of the talented and established scenariowriters at Fastaval, who will give regular presentations and feedback on your scenario ideas.
  • A creative community: We establish daily writing clubs where all participants are welcome. We sit down and write together—both so you have someone to bounce your ideas off and to give you a real sense of what it feels like to be part of the writer community at Fastaval.
  • Exciting constraints: The scenariowriting competition starts with you being given your constraints: Some elements that should both inspire and be included in your scenario idea. For example, it could be something like: "A maze must be included" or "The color red". How you interpret these constraints and incorporate them into your scenario idea is entirely up to you! The current hurdles for this year will naturally remain secret until the Academy begins, when we meet at Fastaval 2025!

Feedback: Finally, our panel of experienced roleplaying game writers will offer you feedback on what you've written … and the lucky winner will have the opportunity to take the stage at the party on Sunday, where the Golden Egg will be awarded.

So, are you ready to get closer to your dream of writing your first scenario for Fastaval? Then sign up right away – we look forward to seeing you in the writing club!

NOTE: There is a limited number of spots at the Synopsis Academy, so if we receive too many applications, we will prioritize participants who have written few or no scenarios.
