The Golden Plunger is an honour awarded to a Fastaval participant who has made a special contribution to both the volunteers and the rest of Fastaval. The award is given to a person who has offered their help spontaneously or otherwise contributed to the community and the event without expecting anything more than a thank you. It recognises those who see where a helping hand is needed and who enhance the Fastaval experience for everyone.

How the Golden Plunger is awarded
During Fastaval, organisers from the different areas have the opportunity to nominate candidates to Information. All nominations are reviewed, after which Information selects a winner and a number of ‘honourable mentions’. The award is officially presented during the Otto Show on Sunday evening, where the recipient is presented with the Golden Plunger as a special recognition of their efforts.
The motivation behind the award
Fastaval is run by volunteers, and without the commitment of the participants, the event would not exist in its current form. The Golden Plunger is a tribute to those participants who make a difference by taking responsibility, stepping in where needed and strengthening the community through their helpfulness. The award is a way of saying thank you to those who take initiative and create a better experience for everyone - recognising the true spirit of Fastaval.
