Had enough of engine-building? Stupified by strategy games? Then get ready to get rhythmic, because Kakophonia is here to freshen you up, burning your brain in entirely different ways!
In Kakophonia, you work together with your team to guess sounds and their rhythm as fast as you can, before the other team. One of you will act as hintmaster, imitating sound effects in a randomly drawn rhythm. The other team members will collaborate guessing, while the opposing team can try to steal points. As you progress through the game the difficulty quickly ramps up, as does the chaos.
Caution! This game makes use of deeply primitive ways of human connection, such making rhythms and silly sounds together, and may thus have a serious impact on your sense of fun.
About the designers
Jasper de Lange is a game designer from the Netherlands, living a semi-nomadic life trying to learn organic farming. He currently lives on a farm near Copenhagen, secretly perfecting his Danish.
At the moment Jasper is busy getting his previous Fastaval game - Bohemians - ready for publication, hopefully in 2025. While his main interest is making boardgames that tell stories, like Bohemians, he accidentally ended up working on a party game when passing by Game Rush last year and… ended up winning, together with co-creator Mads Emil! Now Jasper is making a solo effort to bring Bib Bab Bub - eerrm, Kakophonia - to Fastaval 2025. Let’s see what this golden egg can hatch into…
Kasper has played board games for more than 40 years. As a science librarian he loves to deconstruct games and scrutinize what makes a game bigger than the sum of its parts. He favors strategy games with historical settings. Kasper first Fastaval board game design “Witch Hunt” won an Otto for best board game and was published as “Pagan: Fate of Roanoke” in 2021.
